- Reply to this post, and I will pick five/six of your icons.
- Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
- Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
- This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

It took me too long to stop to write this post, so I ended up with three sets of icons. *facepalm* Right. Sorry for the length.

This is an icon of Marvin, the depressed Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy robot. He is voiced by Alan Rickman in the movie version, which made me love him even more than I already did. (Marvin was, by far, my favourite character in the book.) Anyway, I needed an icon for whenever I made an emo post/comment of some sort and, being me, it had to be self-deprecating to some extent. So this is an icon of Marvin in a scene where everyone's in danger, their ship is about to explode, and Marvin goes, "I've spoken to the main computer." Everyone waits for him to offer them a wonderful idea; he adds, "It hates me."

Oh man, my DN days. There was a time when I had a free LJ account with only three icons—and all three were Death Note icons. DN is a manga that I introduced to several people at [livejournal.com profile] thegreatbreak way back when, and the character in this icon is the uber-awesome detective L. This is the only one of my DN icons that survived the test of time, possibly because it relates to a subject about which I write comments all the time, i.e. my constant state of sleep deprivation.

This icon was posted at [livejournal.com profile] deathlyh_icons soon after Deathly Hallows came out. I used it very often back then, especially with people over at [livejournal.com profile] its_a_fake or in flist posts of people who weren't too fond of the book. For the record, in case some of you haven't heard me saying so a thousand other times: I loved it. The epilogue was cheesy, but what else could anyone expect? So that's why I still have this icon. I don't know, I may get rid of it eventually, but not for a while.

Ah, Pride and Prejudice. I became obsessed with the mini-series somewhat recently, even though I'd loved the book for ages. After watching the mini-series for the third or fourth time, I realised it was high time to make space in my list of icons for at least one P&P icon. So this was the one I chose. It has since then become the standard icon to refer to my current trip to California. For obvious reasons.

This icon is simply a 'general happiness' sort of icon. I use it pretty much when I have no better icons to use in a given post. *grins* It's Kirsten Dunst in The Virgin Suicides. I'm not very fond of her in general, but I do like this movie a great deal.

"My granny says that dying is like going to sleep."

"I wouldn't know. I have done neither."

This is a quote from Terry Pratchett's Mort. Pterry is one of my favourite authors (and Death is my favourite among his characters), and of course this quote has everything to do with me. *grins*

After JKR revealed that Dumbledore was gay, there were a thousand hilarious icons about it posted pretty much everywhere. I think this part of Dumbledore's first Hogwarts speech in Philosopher's Stone is adorable, and I just... love this icon. I tend to use it to talk about gayness in general (or when I have no better icon to use in a thread with [livejournal.com profile] defexxx or [livejournal.com profile] nancy_downs).

As time went by, I ended up getting rid of all my Lord of the Rings icons, except for this one. It's really useful, of course; my many obsessions are a recurring theme in my LJ. I of course still love Rings, but for some reason this subject doesn't tend to come up very often anymore.

All those who participate in a Fight Club are handed out assignments after certain meetings—for instance, pick a fight with a stranger in the middle of the street. In this scene, Tyler Durden threatens to murder a Japanese store clerk as part of a homework assignment he had handed out to his followers. It's the icon I normally use to talk about school work.

It's Darth Vader, I'm an Evil Overlady, *rolls eyes* Self-explanatory, really. This is the oldest of my current icons; I started using it around the time when [livejournal.com profile] hijackers_anon was founded.

Pulp Fiction is, hands down, one of my favourite movies. There is a famous sequence in which one of the characters, Jules (played by Samuel L. Jackson), threatens someone and mocks him for not speaking coherently due to sheer terror. I adore the scene; I saw this mock-quote with Shakespeare at [livejournal.com profile] userpicks ages ago and couldn't resist.

This is a Mean Girls icon I acquired right after we started the family thing over at [livejournal.com profile] hijackers_anon. I still use it sometimes, mostly when talking to my fandom children/grandchildren, e.g. [livejournal.com profile] ladyofmasbolle, [livejournal.com profile] sweetcherrytree.

Mr. Blonde, the Reservoir Dogs character depicted in this icon, is a psychotic sadist of the best kind. Whenever I identify with his ear-slicing tendencies, I use this icon.

The text on this icon is a random Lord of the Rings quote. I first remember using it when Apple announced Boot camp; it's stuck around ever since, and I occasionally employ it when PC users make comments complaining about having to use Macs. It happens astonishingly often (mostly with PC lovers after visiting my house).

May 25th is Towel Day; it is also Lilac Day, a Discworld (and therefore mostly fictional) event. Many Pratchett fans wear lilacs on this day, to celebrate the events that unfolded on Treacle Mine Road on 5/25. As the wise rebels put it, "Truth! Justice! Freedom! (Reasonably-Priced) Love! And a Hard-Boiled Egg!"

(For more information, read Pratchett's Night Watch. It's brilliant.)

This is the symbol of Good Omens, an awesome book about the Apocalypse, and the angels and demons that witnessed the events leading to it. Sort of. This icon is abused very often; I use it to talk about college, UR stuff, travelling, pretty much everything that involves a deadline of some kind.

This icon is a screenshot from this video. The text is from the lyric of a song called Humdrum, which I adore. I... don't even know why I have this icon. *blinks* I should delete it, really. It's way too old, and I never use it. Oh well.

Question: If I comment here, and you give me icons, does that mean I have to perpetuate the meme again, or can I just add on to my other one?

*reminder to self: go and look through Erin's icons and give her some*

I feel quite educated in the ways of Chris now. Pulp Fiction one is utter love.

I'm a little late on this, but I thought I'd drop by and say that you've got the first version of this icon that I did, back when I sucked ass and was using PSP. xD
