The new U2 album, No Line on the Horizon, was leaked two weeks early and I have it and oh my God it's AWESOME. I've been squeeing with [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos for a while now. I'm ridiculously happy right now. *dances*!

My poor roommates will have to live through two months of me listening to this on repeat every single day. Oh well. Sorry, guys. I feel bad for you, I do, but...yeah.

There's a verse in Unknown Caller that goes "Force-quit, and move to Trash." I'm so amused. ("Force quit" is Mac-speak for "control-alt-del.") *snerk*

Also, there's a track called Magnificent—a word that in and of itself reminds me of Donna Noble—and it starts something like this: I was born to be with you / In the space and time / After that, and ever after / I haven't had a clue. It cracked me up. Okay, so maybe it's 'this' space and time or whatever, maybe I misheard it, but it still made me laugh a great deal *grins*

[livejournal.com profile] afterthree gave me five topics to ramble about, so I'll get to that before I forget.

Comment on this post and I will give you five subjects/things I associate with you. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

1. UR.org
I'm slightly unhappy by the fact that pretty much nothing has changed at UR in ages. Some system glitches haven't been fixed, and our damned layout hasn't changed since we first started. This is mostly due to [livejournal.com profile] discreetly's procrastination, of course, but...I don't know, it makes me sad. I wish I knew enough to do it all myself, but I really don't. Bah.

Also on this topic: the UR forums have decided to get active in the past couple of months. Of course we talk mostly about Doctor Who/Torchwood and...I don't know, apparently schooling systems are also extremely fascinating for some reason. I'm amused.

2. Dumbledore & Albus/Gellert
What to say about this? The Dumbledore/Hallows subplot was by far my favourite part of DH (well, The Prince's Tale was my favourite chapter). I never expected to get that much backstory on Dumbledore, let alone backstory of the he-was-evil-and-gay persuasion. He was just another character up until then for me—and I suddenly saw more depth in him than in most other HP characters, and I loved it. Most fic ideas I've had since DH came out are Dumbledore-centric, and I really enjoy writing them.

Albus/Gellert... well. I was never a big slash fan—certainly not in HP and LotR, my primary fandoms. I developed some tolerance for Remus/Sirius after a while; if I hadn't, I would've had to give up on reading Marauder fics years ago. Still, there were no pairings I truly enjoyed reading. And then DH came out. I joined [livejournal.com profile] grindeldore within days of its creation (pre-DH and post-Carpet Book, if I'm not mistaken), and I found the idea of this ship pretty much fascinating—particularly their unrivalled potential for really, really clever conversation. *grins*

Then [livejournal.com profile] neverwiser and I started an Albus/Gellert letter project. It just made me fall more in love with the ship—now it's way up there with Lily/James. I'm far more likely to read a Dumbledore- or an A/G-centric fic nowadays than a Lily/James one. *shrugs* I've been around the Marauder scene for a long time, after all.

3. Runi
The fact that one of the things that reminds [livejournal.com profile] afterthree of me is a person is insanely entertaining.

[livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos is... my chef d'œuvre. *grins* I have converted her to many—many—of my interests, more than any of my other friends, and our tastes are, as a rule, very similar. Our personalities are...well, kind of incompatible. *laughs* But we make it work.

Strangely enough, Runi is my oldest friend. We first started corresponding (mind-bogglingly long emails) in January 2004. She wouldn't tell me her name or give me her AIM handle until after [livejournal.com profile] thegreatbreak started—internet crazies paranoia and all that—and now, three years after that, here we are: I spent three weeks in Palo Alto last year, and she just spent two weeks here in Brazil. *grins*

She's the one who got me hooked on Terry Pratchett, Scrubs and the Pride and Prejudice mini-series, and for that I am very thankful. *beams* Thanks, Runikins.

4. *actions in asterisk*
I'm addicted to *actions*. I use them all the time when IMing in English, even when the sentence would've worked just as well without them—e.g. "*doesn't like this*" as opposed to "I don't like this." I have no idea why.

I seldom use emoticons when typing in English, and I rarely use *actions* when typing in Portuguese.

As [livejournal.com profile] sweetcherrytree certainly remembers, I used ::actions:: until...oh, 2005 or so. I also used "lol" back then, something I'd never do nowadays. (Incidentally, I have yet to be converted to "LIRL." Ha! Take that, [livejournal.com profile] _thirty2flavors. *laughs*)

Also, I have the habit of using 1) unconventional *actions*, such as "*beams*," and 2) punctuation to emphasise actions, e.g. "*laughs*!" "*nods*!" [livejournal.com profile] kirrea says that she associates that habit with me. I hadn't even noticed I did it that much until she pointed it out.

5. Macintosh
I have [livejournal.com profile] nancy_downs to thank for this one. I bought my first Mac—Marvin, an iBook—in June 2005, and I've been slightly fanatical for all things Apple ever since. I've been told my house vaguely resembles an Apple Store (white all over, several Apple products everywhere, no PCs etc.), but I think I need a Cinema Display before I can agree with that. *grins*

But yes. My name is Christy, and I'm an Apple fangirl. *sits*

I'll go and look for the new U2. I'd really like to listen to it. :D

About the topics:

1. Yup. I've been wondering why has there been no changes in a long time. I'd really like to see new colors, at least.

2. I've never read any fic with that ship. Any recs to begin with?

4. Me too, but I've never really been orginal about it. I usually use it just to hug or shrug or kiss or something small like that.

5. XD Yes, I've noticed. I like Apple too, but I'm angry at Steve Jobs for neglecting my country for years (we can't buy anything on iTunes, for instance), despite the gazillion campaigns people down here have run, so until he finally acknowledges my country, I refuse to buy any Apple products.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Five things that make you think of me. Go. *grins*

1. We should...have an admin meeting and get on that (the lack of changes, that is). *grins* I love the forums, really. Esp. since a, um, certain someone seems to have vanished—for while they provided entertainment, they were more irritating than not.

2. Hahahahaha. *grins* I remember how you spazzed when it turned out that Grindeldore was canon...

3. I would like to point out that I probably remind people of you because I talk about you so damn much. Because you're my person and all that.

But aww. Your 'chef d'œuvre'? I'm flattered, I really am. And *grins* you're welcome.

4. *laughs* Everyone keeps commenting to me about the fact that I *use actions in asterisks*—mostly because I do it on Facebook, and few people on Facebook are that formal in their communication. Hey! Hey! I used "::actions::" until you! *grins* Also, your unconventional actions/actions with punctuation are very cute. And I use them, too, don't forget.

5. Lu deserves a medal for this one, honestly.

*waves* Hiiii, Chris. *stands* Hi, everyone, my name's Runi, and I'm a hopeless Mac fangirl and believe that Windows are the spawn of Satan and have owned a Mac since I was, oh, I don't know, four?

Well there's nothing more fascinating than hall-passes, I dunno what you're talking about.

..Apparently that's all I have to say. LIRL

Haha, yeah, that thread lived on for a while. But, it's finally dead, so... :p

I dunno, it's fun to reminisce about high school, though. *grins*

Okay, what's the best site to get Dr. Who?

HAHAHAHAHA

Sorry I'm just always entertained by how Christy and I have slowly converted everyone. (I used to use Sidereel, but most of the links got wiped out recently. I haven't checked since to know if they're back up or not.)

I'm not sure if they have it, but www.megastic.com or www.yidio.com are decent, besides sidereel, as Kali mentioned! :)

UR would be nothing without you. Your essence is so integrated into the place, that the random icon generator's even absorbed a bit of that.

Obviously, Chruni is the official Roomie OTP, haha. Who else would keep the site running?

I use *beams* too! Not sure if that's because of you, or because I picture myself beaming at things in my head.

Hanyways, hit me up five with your pimp cane?

It took me ages to read this post, but now I finally did, and I have to say it was very entertaining. Funny thing, I think you and I have the same way of using *actions* and emotiocons both in English and Portuguese. But I have no doubt that was all your influence on me. *grins*

Now on a more important topic: I WANT TO LISTEN TO THE CD. Give me a download link?

Oh, and I'm very very proud of your Mac love. *pats*
