I don't think I've ever actually done one of these. So, well, here it is, just about...uh, a decade too late. (Jesus.)

Template stolen from [livejournal.com profile] bewarethesmirk and slightly trimmed, because I got lazy halfway through.

1. Fandoms: I'm currently deep in the throes of Teen Wolf fic and utterly unable to ditch it, heaven knows why. Still loving Suits. Past fandoms, which I still relapse into pretty often: Inception, Star Trek, Merlin, Veronica Mars, Kings, SGA, and Generation Kill. Old fandoms, which I still love but don't really read fic in anymore, include Harry Potter, Avengers, XMFC, and White Collar.

2. OTPs: Kirk/Spock, Dumbledore/Grindelwald, Lily/James, Remus/Sirius, Aziraphale/Crowley, Buffy/Spike, Harvey/Mike, Arthur/Merlin, Logan/Veronica, Neal/Peter/Elizabeth, McKay/Sheppard, Jack/Irina, David/Keith, Juliet/Sawyer.

3. Favorite tv shows: Six Feet Under, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Suits, Lost, Alias, Veronica Mars, Community, Kings, Jack & Bobby, Game of Thrones? There's more, but nothing major comes to mind at the moment.

4. Favourite fics you ever read Ha. Okay, two per fandom, totally arbitrary choice, just fics I'm most likely to reread:

  • Teen Wolf: Famous Last Words and Calling Home
  • Suits: needs must and 5U175
  • X-Men First Class: A Curious Carriage of Crystal and Cold and Replay
  • Generation Kill: Ray Pearson's Big Gay World and Après moi le deluge
  • Veronica Mars: A Strange New Story Every Time and A Hard Habit to Break
  • Inception: Unexpected Plot Twist and the Steinway!verse
  • Kings: Epilogue and Conflict Resolution
  • White Collar: Always Starts the Same, with a Boy and a Girl and Contractual Obligations: A Love Story in Three Traffic Lights
  • Star Trek Reboot RPF: D: and A Passage That Sings
  • Star Trek Reboot: Graduate Vulcan for Fun and Profit and Only Good for Legends
  • Merlin Drastically Redefining Protocol and We're a Storm in Someone Else's Teacup
  • Harry Potter: Drop Dead Gorgeous! And Sublimation and the Snitch. And, shit, Map of the Problematique. Also, The Death of Narcissa Black. Okay, self, enough.

    5. Favorite kinks/tropes: reluctant lust, infidelity, dubcon, telepathy abuse, excessive UST, D/s, fucked-up power dynamics (teacher, boss, knowledge imbalance, superpowers, age difference, you name it, I'm sold), involuntary arousal, voyeurism, bondage, unwanted soulbond, poly dynamics, intentional misunderstandings, banter, geeky banter, smart characters actually being clever, fake relationships, sarcasm, provoked loss of control, possessiveness, unintentional domesticity.

    6. Fictional character you would most like to marry/sex up/go on adventures with: Oh God, AN ADVENTURE WITH ABED NADIR WOULD BE THE BEST THING EVER. ...Harvey Specter, though. Always a strong contender. *ogles* Marry, though, probably Brenda Chenowith. I'd need some seriously compelling levels of fucked-up-ness to keep me interested in a marriage.

    7. Things you enjoy outside the internet: Roman history, general techiness, movie-watching, West End musicals. Mostly, though: not being overwhelmed by grad school duties and having time to waste online. That used to be nice! I liked that.

    8. Dinosaur you most embody: t-rex!

    9. Historical period you would most like to visit: regal Rome in the mid-600s! Or the early Republic, that would be very cool. Only I would have to build an underground bomb shelter or something to store and preserve all sorts of evidence, though, because just going there would be fucking heartbreaking not to be able to use my knowledge later for lack of evidence. ...*facepalm* Ugh, self.

    10. Where to find me: [twitter.com profile] christycorr - [tumblr.com profile] christycorr - [archiveofourown.org profile] christycorr - [pinboard.in profile] christycorr
  • I signed up for two [livejournal.com profile] reel_merlin fics, because I'm SUICIDAL. Wtf, self? I barely read Merlin fic anymore! FML.

Here's a meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] _thirty2flavors, because it's 10 PM and I'm bored in class, and no one should be allowed to have Commercial Law class at 10 PM on a Friday.

Name three fics you think I will never, ever, ever write. In return, I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them.

    Do your worst! :D

We've had consistent 100F+ weather for the past few days, and I am melting. MELTING. Weather gods, I am so displeased. My computer's overheating so much it's uncomfortable to type. Ugh.

Yuletide sign-ups are now open! I haven't decided which fandoms I'll pick, but go volunteer! Also, UR.org's yearly Christmas Fic Exchange has just opened sign-ups, too. *nudges* How about some HP fic nostalgia, eh? Go join! ♥

Post a list of 10 television shows you watch or have watched. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each show. When someone guesses your favourite character, bold the title. When guessed, tell us why you like that character.

    Here you go:

    1. Doctor Who
    2. How I Met Your Mother
    3. Six Feet Under
    4. Merlin
    5. Firefly
    6. Buffy
    7. Numb3rs
    8. Chuck
    9. Leverage
    10. True Blood

I'd offer shows like Castle, Alias, Dexter, Dollhouse, Rome, Boston Legal, Gilmore Girls, House, Scrubs, Supernatural, Pushing Daisies, Star Trek (TOS) and Heroes as options, but my favourite characters in each and every one are so obvious (and obviously awesome) that really, it's kind of pointless.

Star Trek XI fic rec: [livejournal.com profile] waldorph's √π233/hy7 series. Don't let the Math-y name scare you off! It starts off with an AU loosely based on the movie Good Will Hunting, in which Jim is dragged to Starfleet Academy after Spock finds out he's a bit of a Maths wiz kid, but it's so much more than that—every one-shot that followed is narrated from the point of view of a different character (Winona, Uhura, Sam, T'Pring, Sulu, Frank, Sarek, etc.), following his or her life in that 'verse. Most of them can be read as stand-alones, if Kirk/Spock isn't your thing. I'm especially fond of the T'Pring one-shot.

Also, I turn 22 today. Yay for getting old! And happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] keshi_t, who is exactly one year and 36 hours older than me :D
A meme ganked from [personal profile] suaine—one of those that go around every once in a while, which for some reason I never got around to doing.

Choose your genre show, answer the questions using episode titles from that show—if possible, don't repeat any. )

I just rented The Princess Diaries 2—which, by the way, I did watch back when it first came out—just because of Chris Pine. Yes. I'd mentioned a few weeks ago that this would be a surefire way to tell when whether my Star Trek XI obsession reached an unhealthy level, so there: it has.

Some friends of mine are having a board game night, with Risk, cards, charades and possibly liberal amounts of alcohol. *grins* I haven't done this in ages!

I don't usually pimp fandom memes, but this one's awesome:

They're in dire need of Harry Potter/Doctor Who/Merlin/Dr. Horrible/Star Trek love, you guys. Seriously, last time I checked Chris Pine wasn't even nominated for 'Most GQ,' which is just wrong. God, this meme is reminding me of several fandoms I didn't remember I liked! Go vote! :D

This meme is making me realise how little fandom-variety there is in my LJ icons. This is most distressing :|

So I was re-tagging a few old entries on Dreamwidth and I found this 2006 post. Everyone's replies to that meme amused me to no end. So why not do it again? My flist has changed a great deal since then, and many of you know next to nothing about me IRL.

Different set of questions, of course. *grins* Give it a try! Some may be a bit hard for those who don't know me in person, but not many.

    See anything you recognise?

I've been reading quite a bit of Merlin fanfiction lately. If you've seen the show and haven't checked out Drastically Redefining Protocol, Three Tasks and The Crown of the Summer Court, I suggest you do so ASAP. (Well, if you've never seen it, you should still read the first one, because it's AU, and awesome.)
The new U2 album, No Line on the Horizon, was leaked two weeks early and I have it and oh my God it's AWESOME. I've been squeeing with [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos for a while now. I'm ridiculously happy right now. *dances*!

My poor roommates will have to live through two months of me listening to this on repeat every single day. Oh well. Sorry, guys. I feel bad for you, I do, but...yeah.

There's a verse in Unknown Caller that goes "Force-quit, and move to Trash." I'm so amused. ("Force quit" is Mac-speak for "control-alt-del.") *snerk*

Also, there's a track called Magnificent—a word that in and of itself reminds me of Donna Noble—and it starts something like this: I was born to be with you / In the space and time / After that, and ever after / I haven't had a clue. It cracked me up. Okay, so maybe it's 'this' space and time or whatever, maybe I misheard it, but it still made me laugh a great deal *grins*

[livejournal.com profile] afterthree gave me five topics to ramble about, so I'll get to that before I forget.

Like [livejournal.com profile] bazcat89, I'm doing this TV shows meme so I can ramble about stuff. Also, it's 7 AM and I'm procrastinating on going to bed. *grins*

    TV meme )

Yay for rambling! Answering these questions made me feel like I watch too much TV—I don't, really. Honestly! *laughs* It's just that TV series are sort of a bonding experience in my circle of friends: we rarely watch things on our own, and the series we have in common are always a popular conversation starter. So I tend to give most of what they watch a try. (Except for Gossip Girl. Because just...no.)

[livejournal.com profile] inksplotched came to my house this week! She's been travelling around the country, and was in Rio for a couple of days. It was brilliant *grins*

...Aah. I'm having Pride and Prejudice cravings. Damn you, [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos!

Ladida. Hello again, LJ! I haven't posted twice in a row since Election Day—and I don't remember what the last time before that was. But don't mind me—it's just that, among other things, my UR fic exchange prompt is driving me crazy. I mean, dancing-on-the-hills, why-so-serious, stabbing-my-wife-and-son-in-a-deserted-hotel crazy. Seriously.

Also, I so very dearly wish Britney Spears' Womanizer wouldn't get stuck in my head at least twice a day. I blame [livejournal.com profile] defexxx, who listens to it all day long. It so doesn't help.

Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos, and pretty much everyone on my flist:

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well, let's see.
    1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
    2) Count how many you have read.
    3) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them.

    The Big Read list )

49! *grins* And no, [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos, you definitely don't get bonus points for reading one of these in more than one language—if that were the case, I'd get two bonus points for the Bible alone, and a few for several others in the list *laughs*

I've started at least fifteen of the ones I haven't read, and, with the exception of five or so, I own the entire list. *sighs* I really need to finish reading all the books I bought while travelling. Damn.

In other news, Cruz has effectively replaced Opera as my browser of choice.

20 days until Christmas! And nine days until Runi arrives! Man, I love December.
I'm in London! *grins* I've done few interesting things other than shopping so far, mostly because I came with my father, stepmother, uncle, godmother, and three brothers. We're doing many of the traditional touristy things I tend to run away screaming from — London Eye, Madame Toussauds, etc. Oh well.

As per instructions on [livejournal.com profile] inksplotched's LJ:

When you see this, post in your own journal with your favorite quote from The Princess Bride - preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.

"You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you."
"You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die."

I have a special love for Goldman's highly amusing 'edits' in the PB book, so here's one:

But from a narrative point of view, in 105 pages nothing happens. Except this: 'What with one thing and another, three years passed.'

...dude, I have no Princess Bride icons? Fail!
I saw this meme at [livejournal.com profile] juniperus' LJ—it was fun to do. I really have been posting even more memes than usual here, and very few other things; I apologise. My (slightly overused) Twitter account is probably to blame.

I've been watching bits of Sex and the City again while waiting for the movie. 'Tis entertaining. I'm so ridiculously similar to Mr. Big in some ways, though—it's somewhat alarming.

Meme: Go here. Keep refreshing until you've collected five quotes that really resonate with you, then post 'em to your journal.

    1. I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me. - Hunter S. Thompson (1939 - 2005)

    2. The world is governed more by appearances than realities, so that it is fully as necessary to seem to know something as to know it. - Daniel Webster (1782 - 1852)

    3. I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong. - Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)

    4. It's a rare person who wants to hear what he doesn't want to hear. - Dick Cavett (1936 - )

    5. That all men are equal is a proposition which, at ordinary times, no sane individual has ever given his assent. - Aldous Huxley (1894 - 1963)

    five runner-ups )

Nothing else to say, really :) *yawns* Damn, it's eight AM. I should go to bed.

    Bring. It. On. *grins*

    It was updated.

I hate [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida and [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific for doing this, because honestly? I want more. Now. This part was insanely short, and just just two years man and it was SO GOOD but tiny. *wibble* I hope we don't have to wait another two years. *has cravings* This is so not a good sign.

(Though I certainly will wait two years—gladly—if it means we'll get more after that.)

I love [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida and [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific. Seriously. This update totally made my week. *grins* Month, even.

Also, my deepest apologies to people to whom I barked and/or threatened with a painful, slow death both IRL and via MSN/AIM. It's nothing personal, guys. I just really didn't want to be bothered while I read this. *laughs*

That question meme everyone's been doing )
I find it amusing that anyone who saw me in the past few weekends would have concluded that I have a boyfriend. I don't, not technically—Romulus is Diana's boyfriend, but my interaction with him is both hilarious and highly uncharacteristic. ...On the other hand, the same outside observer could have concluded just as easily that I'm dating [livejournal.com profile] dianaprallon. It makes perfect sense, of course, all things considered, but it's still entertaining.

It's Labour Day weekend and quite a few people are coming to Vertigo. I'm very happy about this, and for some reason feel more sociable than I had in a long time. The apartment's insanely stocked up with all sorts of beverages and junk food; it's very nostalgic, and reminiscent of when my life used to be like this every day. Good times.

There are always background issues, of course, and every other day I seem to come across an insane yet completely true bit of gossip or secret that totally shocks me. Nevertheless, everything seems...almost right in the world. I don't know, I just feel—aah. Content. Or something.

... I swear that's not even the residual blood in my alcohol system talking.

Small TV-related rambling; tiny spoilers for House, Doctor Who, Grey's, Scrubs, Brothers and Sisters )

And while I'm on the subject of Doctor Who and stuff, I have to mention that David Tennant's role as the lead character in Casanova is insanely endearing. One can hardly credit me for coverting poor [livejournal.com profile] firstlightofeos and [livejournal.com profile] _thirty2flavors to Who when Tennant clearly does the job on his own with remarkable ease.

I took a silly quiz I saw in [livejournal.com profile] inksplotched's LJ, and look!

    You know the Bible 100%!

I've done a somewhat decent job of controlling myself these past few weeks. I've been to the big Apple store in Palo Alto several times, but I hardly ever bought anything. I always knew that I'd end up doing some kind of significant purchase there the week before I left and—er. Yes. Just got back to the hotel.

In Neil Gaiman's Sandman, Morpheus' big sister is Death. Considering that this is also my favourite Terry Pratchett character, I will name the new black MacBook Death. *laughs* And it'll totally speak in small caps.

Morpheus, my current MacBook, will pass on to [livejournal.com profile] plasticiner. Considering that I've also bought a Time Capsule and a bazillion other small Apple things, Vertigo will look like an Apple store more than ever now :D

As requested by Runi, my top 5 Apple products )
Stephenie Meyer is currently number one on the poll for Time's list of most influential people this past year. Oh dear God. Please click on the link above and give people below her a fighting chance—Twilight fans seem to have undertaken the task to get her to the top, and it's just...*facepalms repeatedly* No. Wrong. It's Harry Potter: Best Animated Independent Foreign Language Documentary all over again. Only worse.

Go ahead, give Meyer the '1' she deserves. *nudges*

Also, here are some ideas of people you may want to give high ratings to:
  • Stephen Colbert (naturally);
  • Jon Stewart (obviously *fangirls*);
  • Steve Jobs, Apple CEO (because I adore him, and I'm currently minutes away from his house);
  • Bono (because I had to);
  • Jimbo Wales, creator of Wikipedia (because you all know I secretly have an altar at home where I make daily sacrifices to him);
  • Al Gore (because he's cool).

There are several other in/famous people, of course, from Amy Winehouse to Nelson Mandela. Take your pick. But *fumes* not Stephenie Meyer. Edit: Oh look, people agree with me *grins*

Speaking of which, I read the Twilight series this week. It was every bit as awful and cringe-worthy as everyone told me it would be, and also highly entertaining. At least now I can follow (and contribute to) the constant debates at UR with [livejournal.com profile] _thirty2flavors, [livejournal.com profile] inksplotched, [livejournal.com profile] callmepatsy and others.

In my last post, I asked for top 5 lists; I will try to post some of them in every post from now on.

Five ships and the songs I associate with them, as requested by Liz, with download links )

So... that ended up being ridiculously long. Plus, it took me a while to upload all the songs, so I won't do any more top 5 lists tonight. I promise the next ones will be briefer *laughs* And oh look, in the time it took me to finish this post, Rain got the #1 spot from Meyer, by a small margin. This probably isn't cause for celebration, though *grins*

[livejournal.com profile] moon_dancing arrives tomorrow! *bounces*

ETA, April 14th Stephen Colbert is #1, and Jon Stewart is #2! Smeyer's been kicked to the 39th spot. Brilliant.
  • Tee hee. Check it out!

For some reason, this Shoebox icon post made me all nostalgic. I WANT A NEW CHAPTER, DAMN IT. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida and [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific, I'm glaring at you. *fumes*

I've been spending way too much time at LJ lately. And I've been posting far too often. Is it the memes? It's probably just hanging out with Runi often enough that I see her at LJ every day and because of this I remember to flist. I wonder if I can keep this up once I return to Brazil.

Speaking of memes... Give me something I can make a top five list out of. Anything at all: top five favorite socks, top five favorite smells, or anything you want to know my top five of. The answers will be in my next post.

    You know the drill.
