First things first: the Veronica Mars Kickstarter project reached its goal within just around 9 hours. I was checking the page every few minutes, and seeing other fans' glee via Twitter and whatnot just made me so, so happy. There are serious things to be discussed on the subject and all, of course, and intriguing possibilities for the future of cancelled or probably-doomed, relatively low-budget shows with a vocal fanbase like Gilmore Girls and Community, but. Undiluted bliss of this kind is exactly one of the biggest perks of being a fan, of being someone who is unashamed to actually get excited about things, and it feels so warm and fuzzy and amazing.

It's just been brilliant. I wish I could hug the internet right now, I'm so happy. Eee. ♥ Can't stop listening to the VM theme on repeat. Foreverrrr. :D

Veronica Mars - excited

In somewhat fannish-related news, I had to give this presentation this week about Judaism in the Hellenistic period, and the last slide of my presentation was—just for kicks, because why not—a photo of the People's Front of Judaea. The moment I put it up, my professor said, "The Judean People's Front!"

Three or four of my fellow grad students immediately corrected, "The People's Front of Judaea!"

My professor grinned at them. "Splitters!"

Jfc, I really, really love studying in the UK.

Also, apparently there's a new Pope, who's Latin American. I have Thoughts on the subject and all, but mostly my thoughts at the moment are still a merry loop of VERONICA MARS VERONICA MARS EEEEEE

YAY VERONICA MARS! I'm really happy that there's going to be a movie. :)

Congratulations on getting your presentation done! I just turned in a paper (only one more to go!) and am momentarily basking in the satisfaction.

The Judean People's Front! Oh my god, that is the best thing ever. No way could that have happened anywhere else.

And thanks to years of pop culture exposure, it's relatively easy to get into things. I can only imagine moving to somewhere like, say, Turkey and being entirely perplexed by references to *anything*.

Oh yeah, the Who thing is crazy. It's such a geeky, niche show in Finland that even knowing what a national institution it is in the UK didn't prepare me for actually witnessing it.
